This is the first Sakuru teapot made. It may also be the truest to form. Both the shape and the finishing of the teapot was inspired by the Barbican Estate in east London. The raw dark texture from the heavily sanded Medium Vulcain clay references the wonderful focus on finishing found throughout the Barbican's exterior walls. And while the rough exterior walls have informed the exterior of this teapot, the iconic green pool found in the centre is recreated using orbe glaze inside the body of the pot and interior aspects of the lid.
